The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a volunteer organization that helps the poor and disadvantaged. The Society was founded in 1833 by Blessed Frederic Ozanam, who was inspired by the charitable work of St. Vincent de Paul.
Established in 2013, the Santhome, Hulimavu conference provides practical assistance to anyone in need, without discrimination based on their background or beliefs. . Our vision is to bring aid, development, and hope to the poor and marginalized.
Key Activities of the St. Vincent de Paul Society:
1. Direct Assistance
Monetary & Material Aid: We provide financial support, food, clothing, and other essential items to individuals and families in need.
Home Visits: We visit people in their homes to better understand their needs and offer personalized support. These visits also provide companionship and comfort, especially for the sick and isolated.
Medical Support: We offer medical assistance, from one-time help with hospital bills to support for ongoing healthcare costs.
Adopt-a-Family Program: Our program in the Hulimavu area provides regular monthly financial support to local families who struggle to afford basic necessities.
Food Kit Distribution: To address food insecurity, we regularly distribute essential food kits to families facing financial hardship.
2. Long-Term Support
Education & Vocational Training: We provide access to education and job training, empowering people with the skills and knowledge needed to improve their economic standing.
Small Business Support: We offer financial support to help poor families start small businesses, creating a path toward financial independence.
Shelter & Housing: We assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness find housing solutions.
3. Spiritual & Community Support
Prayer & Reflection: We integrate prayer and reflection into our activities to foster a strong sense of community and encourage spiritual growth among our members and those we serve.
